CENSUS 1801 (Graungaard, Kollerup, Vejle S857)1035 age 5, “født i sognet.”
Reported as being age 18 at time of marriage, from Vejle (Marriage Record1044). Her father is a witness to the wedding, “Brudens fader Peter Nielsen”.
Thorning Tilgangs Liste (1817 n 1-3 S23)1045 shows family’s move from Vejle Sogn to Thorning Sogn in 1817. She is age 22.
Thorning Afgangs Liste (1832 n 21-28 S22)1046 shows departure with family from Knudstrup, Thorning to Nim Sogn in 1832 age 36. Family’s arrival in Nim Sogn (Skanderborg 1832 n 7-14 S571)1047 confirmed in Tilgangs Liste.
On 13 Apr 1833 they moved again, from Nim (Afgangs Liste 1833 n 4-10 S571)1048 back to Vejle Sogn, Vejle Amt, which is where their first child had been born some years earlier. Notably, at this time Else Mathilde does not move with them, having gone to live with Mette’s sister Ane Marie’s family in Thorning. Later that year, in Vejle, another daughter would be born and it is possible that two moves in two years, with a large family, while pregnant, was too much for Mette, and so Else Mathilde went to live with her god-parents.

Mette is Else Mathilde Sørensen’s birth mother. She is the sister of 1802 Jens Tobias Peder Lassen 1802’s first wife, Ane Marie Pedersen 1795, with whom Else Mathilde lived as a foster child.
Else Mathilde is the link between Mette Pedersen and Ane Marie Pedersen (wife of Jens Tobias Peder Lassen 1802). Without Else Mathilde going between the two families, it would have been impossible to find the correct “Ane Marie” for JTP 1802.
In the 1834 and 1845 censuses (Graae, Thorning, Viborg S376 and S577)102,104, Else Mathilde is living with Peder Lassen (1802) and first wife Ane Marie Pedersen, then second wife Ane Birgithe Jensen Levring. Peder and Ane Marie were sponsors at Else Mathilde’s baptism: they were her godparents.
