Chaos in Ungstrup!
There are two couples living in Ungstrup at the same time with very similar names.
Family 1: Christen Larsen Wride (b 1734) “den ældre” and Kirsten Andersdatter (b 1729)
Family 2: Christen Larsen Wride (b abt 1737) “den yngre” and Birthe Andersdatter (b abt 1732)

Birthe Andersdatter (b abt 1732)
The betrothal record of the second couple is critical to understanding that there are actually two men with the same name. Christen the “ældre” is a witness to the betrothal of Christen the “yngre.”

It is assumed that the first two daughters did not survive infancy. Death records for infant children appear to be incomplete in the Thorning Parish Record before 1800: there are not nearly enough deaths/stillbirths recorded compared to averages at the time. The babies may have been buried in a separate churchyard with their own book which has been lost.
There is a child who could be assigned to either family:
Anders 24 Jul 1763 (d 28 Jul 1765) (father Chr Wride)
Assigned him to Christen (yngre) because three out of four witnesses at his baptism are identical to the next daughter in this family. His placement is “tight” in either family, as he was born only 11-1/2 months after Christen (ældre)’s Maren in 1762, or only 8-1/2 months after the marriage of Christen (yngre).
Christen (yngre)(age 50~1737), “Birgite” (age 55~1732) and “Ane Catrine” (age 15•1772) appear together on the 1787 Census in Ungstrup.
Christen and Birthe die within a month of each other in Ungstrup. Their records are next to each other in the parish register:

Neither Christen (ældre) nor Kirsten appears on the 1787 Census for Ungstrup. Their first two children do. Lars age 30, is working as “tjeneste karl i Ungstrup,” at the house of his sister Kirsten Christensdatter and her family.
In CENSUS 1787 (Kjellerup, Hørup, Viborg S926)1128 Christen (Larsen)(54~1733) and Kirsten (58•1729) are working as day labourers in Kjellerup, Horup.
In the 1801 Census Kirsten (age 72•1729) is living with her son Lars in Ungstrup. Her daughters Kirsten and Maren also living in Ungstrup. Christen is not living with any of them, although Kirsten is marked as “Gift” rather than “Enke” so it appears he is still alive.

Now: Family 3!
While determining Christen Wride (ældre)’s birth and death dates, to add to the confusion, there is yet another family in Ungstrup on the 1787 Census headed by a man with a similar name and age!
Christen Larsen (54~1733) & Ane Andersdatter (46~1741) (his 3rd marriage)
3 children from this marriage:
Mette (10~1777)
Maren (8~1779)
Ane (6~1781)
However, none of these children appear to have been born in Ungstrup. Also unable to find a marriage record for this couple in Thorning Sogn. There is a death record for Christen Laursen (64~1732) on 29 Apr 1796 which would appear to match this man. Census 1801 shows Ane (60~1741) is still in Ungstrup, widowed, living with daughter Mette (25~1776).

Christen (ældre) appears to be the last man standing! There is a death record for Christen Laursen of Ungstrup on 31 Jul 1814 (79~1735) which appears to be the correct one.
