Note about picture of the farm in Family Multimedia: This picture of Christen’s brother Peder’s house was found in a box at the old Thorning School (“Det Gule Hus” / youth hostel) before it was torn down, and was in the possession of the Bertelsen family. The house and yard look much newer in this picture than they do in the pictures sent home by Ane Knudsen, Peder’s second wife. Therefore we have set the date at about 1890. If 1890 is correct, the two families on the porch are likely, on the left, Christen and Anine Rasmussen with their daughter Laursine (who died in infancy), and in the middle, Peder and Karen Marie Rasmussen with their two children, Rasmus and SIne.
